Purpose and Use

This portfolio contains evidence of learning and growth through completion of the courses of Mansfield University's School Library and Information Technologies Masters Program. As  I continue my career as a School Library Media Specialist, the artifacts maintained in this portfolio will document my personal growth plan and goals as I gain more experience in the field.

As a second year School Library Media Specialist, I am very aware of the importance of advocating for the school library. Educating administrators, teachers, students, and families is essential in becoming the "essential link" to resources and technology in the school and in life. My eagerness to read, learn, and share the love of knowledge should be evident in the program, and this portfolio will help gauge the effectiveness of my actions and the program in general.

Documents contained in this portfolio focus on many areas of school library, for example: collaboration, technology, and student achievement. The Competency Checklist outlines the abilities and skills gleaned from challenging coursework and sets the foundation for a successful library program. The Curriculum Vita outlines the teaching experience that I bring to the school library. Knowledge of curriculum, district incentives, and involvement in committees exemplifies the dedication that I have to further the growth of the student population. The Four Domains provide the framework for and examples of what a truly effective School Library Media Specialist practices. The Professional Development Plan and Collaboration Plan outline the specific goals for myself and how to best collaborate with colleagues to maximize student achievement.
