Domain 3: Delivery of Service

School Library Media Specialists must provide exceptional service to the entire school community. They must maintain the library's balanced collection of resources and consult multiple outlets in doing so, such as staff, students, parents, and library journals. Instructional units should be a collaborative effort among the media specialist and teachers, resulting in well-designed lessons and location of resources. Sharing a love of reading and learning with students is another important aspect of student engagement in the library. Teaching students and teachers to use technology to their advantage helps patrons find valuable, reliable information. A continually improved library program builds on and reflects upon these aspects of service to the community.
